Peggy Jenkins
I had the pleasure of supervising Ryan during his 3-year tenure in the Indoor Exposure Assessment Section of the Research Division at the California Air Resources Board. Ryan is one of the most highly organized and productive staff I have supervised in over 30 years as a supervisor. He served as the lead staff for implementing our indoor air cleaner regulation, which limits ozone emissions from air cleaning devices. Ryan independently developed procedures and an Access database for processing and tracking air cleaner certification applications from manufacturers. He also was an excellent scientist and researcher. He very capably managed several extramural and in-house research projects focused on volatile and semi-volatile organic chemicals in homes and in vehicles, assuring that sound scientific practices and State contracting requirements were followed. With superb analytical skills, he used SAS and R software, mass balance equations and population exposure models to very effectively analyze data from our studies and estimate Californians’ exposures to toxic air contaminants. Ryan was highly respected by all…manufacturers, scientists, his colleagues and the public. His future employer(s) will be very fortunate to have Ryan as part of their organization.
Tom Phillips
Ryan was a fantastic colleague and fun to work with. He enthusiastically helped us with his statistical and data management expertise, and was very pro-active and creative in solving problems in our technical and administrative type projects.
