Mukomeze - in kinyarwanda 'empower her' - aims to improve the (economic, physical, social and psychological) well-being of survivors of sexual violence during the Rwandan Genocide. Even after 17 years a large group of women (and men) are still heavingly traumatised. 70% of the victims of sexual violence are HIV positive. Together with our partner organisation in Rwanda, Solace Ministries, Mukomeze seeks to assist these survivors by providing them with basic support, a small incentive to make them independent again, or in other words to empower them. In the role of project coordinator, Eefje is responsible for the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the projects, in close cooperation with Solace Ministries.
