• Lead in the identification, selection, and onboarding of BSF entrepreneurs and BSF smallholder farmers• Manage and support the implementation of BSF economic empowerment initiatives that enhance access to BSF Feed (i.e., agro-waste and household waste), production techniques and marketing for enhanced commercialisation of the action. • Working closely with the MEAL Assistant, take the lead in ensuring the MEAL system and plans for the project aspects are properly in place, digitized as planned and operational. • Consolidate timely and high-quality project progress reports as per DCA PPM and donor requirements; as well as regular updates on project progress to DCA Kenya Country Office (attention Project Coordinator and Area Programme Manager). • Facilitate/support collaboration and cross learning among DCA & partners staff through information sharing, exposure visits including active partner engagements. • Produce monthly project progress reports to DCA on BSF production and commercialization system and perform any other responsibilities as determined and assigned by the Project Coordinator from time to time.• Liaise and coordinate with the Technical BSF consultants for desired project outcomes• Manage and facilitate DCA partnership building initiatives relevant to Black Soldier Fly and the greening agenda at field level in close consultations with the Project Coordinator. This includes operational partnerships with technical BSF assistance consultants, and other relevant I/NGO’s, County Governments and Private Sector actors.• Participate in regular Greening and BSF actions, as well as entomology related actions at country office level, including round table partner consultations organised by the Area Programme Manager or Head of Programme. • In consultation with the Project Coordinator, represent DCA at different fora at County Level Integrated Development Plans, coordination and other relevant fora and technical working groups. Associate Food Security and Livelihoods Project Officer

Offered technical support in the design, planning, implementation and monitoring of food security, livelihoods and financial inclusion interventions. Lead a team of 20 community based facilitators where we were able to recruit and train over 2000 beneficiaries in nutrition sensitive climate smart crop and animal production. Technical lead in a cash for work program implemented by a consortium of five organizations that facilitated cash transfers to 1500 project beneficiaries in remote areas and production of 8.75 tonnes of insect enriched chicken feeds. Lead in the development of the project narrative, logframe/results framework and M&E framework Facilitated the design and implementation of DCAs first electronic voucher transfer systems for agro-inputs and construction materials supply to project beneficiaries. Actively Prepared project documents including project proposals, theory of change, log frames, detailed implementation plans/work plans, budgets, procurement plans, project narratives and donor project reports. Facilitated collection of quantitative and qualitative data during program evaluations using software’s such as Magpi/kobo collect and conducting focus group discussions and key informant interviews. Part of the team that introduced the first ever DCA Kenya cash-based interventions (multipurpose cash transfer) in Kakuma, Turkana county reaching over 2000 refugee and host community households using the minimum expenditure basket. Grants issuing and management to agri-preneurs; I facilitated competitive issuing of grants to ten agripreneurs in the poultry value chain to conduct commercial production. Supported the development of project monitoring and evaluation systems. Technical lead in DCA first ever program on insect farming and utilization as a novel source of protein and micro-nutrients for humans and animals. The JIF project was an innovative project promoting the farming and utilization of insects as a source of protein and micro-nutrients. It was a multiyear project supported through Danish funding. Major tasks assigned were: Onboarded and trained over 500 new farmers on the set up of insect farms and utilization of insects as food including fortification of their usual meals with nutrient rich insect meal. Developed training material on insect rearing, utilization and post-harvest handling and consequently published and insect farming guide. Participated in a policy design conventions of insect consumption as food/feed in Kenya Promoting consumption of the nutrient dense insect meal and fortification in normally consumed foods (baked products) Commercialized insect-food products through product development and marketing. Liased with government institutions and NGOs to promote insect as a high-quality protein source. Show less

The INSFEED project was a multiyear project jointly funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR). The projects major focus was on enhancing the poultry and fish valuechains in Eastern Africa region through utilization of insect protein in feed formulations. I was able to publish three research articles in peer reviewed journals. Major taks assigned were; Wrote a project proposal, detailed work plans (weekly/monthly) and budget breakdowns Designed questionnaires and conducted survey in Kakamega and Busia counties in Western Kenya region. Conducted oral literature reviews and desk-based research. Designed research methodology including randomized sample storage and analyses. Ensured timely collection and recording of data through laboratory analysis and a field survey. Post-harvest processing and analysis (Chemical and microbiological) of edible insect products. Communicate project findings to different stakeholders through science conferences. Data collection, cleaning, analysis (using SPSS and STATA) and presentation in scientific conferences. Show less
