In this role he writes business plans, introduces investors, appoints directors, actors and actresses, lighting and sound engineers, stage scenery, marketing and the day to day box-office take, while keeping the creative team and staff informed as the production unfolds. He has considerable experience in judging whether a play should be taken from trial performances to the West End, from Broadway and Australia to the UK or on tour around the Continent, or vice versa. He has been theatre Agent and Producer for the comedy trio Fascinating Aida, duo Kit and the Widow and Childrens Comedian James Campbell. The most successful production to date has been 39 Steps, which was a high risk and cost when we had it written for us. Since trialling this out in the UK, and moving it to the West End it has been produced all around the world, from Broadway to Moscow, Paris to Sydney and even performed in Israel in Yiddish! The backlog of tours ranges from Opera (Carmen) to Children's productions (BFG) and includes straight Dramas (Oleanna) and Musicals (Me and My Girl). He ran the Arts Theatre for a number of years, Producing 'Vagina Monologues' amongst other noteworthy successes, and has had great success Producing excellent theatre that was deemed non-commercial - 'Lieutenant of Inishmore' by working the project through with the Arts Council - and actually making a profit!
