Ed worked for me at the University of Winchester during 2020, where he conducted a strategic research project for our department working in partnership with the Student Union. Ed’s project aimed at developing our support to our student leaders and harnessing the great potential of the opportunities to develop their graduate employability. Ed first conducted an ethically approved systematic research project using his History Degree’s research skills, discipline and criticality, but also quickly adapting to a social research study through conducting a University wide survey. Ed is a positive and enthusiastic member of any team, and on this project, he supported the wider department during the very difficult time of COVID-19. Following Ed’s data collection, he analysed the data and brokered an evidenced need for collaboration between the University’s Careers Team and the Student Union Opportunities Team to create a new training and resource to harness our student leadership opportunities as springboard graduate employability activities for out students’ future. Ed led on this project which brought in a new resource at Winchester and we are very thankful for his time. I would certainly recommend Ed to other employers as a flexible, committed and talented member of any team, with high self-efficacy for new challenges and contexts.

I had the absolute pleasure of mentoring Ed within his role as a Graduate Research Associate in our Department of Student Engagement and Employability. Despite the role only lasting three months, Ed has delivered some invaluable resources to the University of Winchester and Winchester Student Union, where his research has enabled a better understanding (and development) of the skills obtained by students in leadership positions. Beyond this, it was extremely enjoyable to work with Ed! He always brought a great attitude to work, showed professionalism at all times and held strong teamwork skills by always being happy to help other members within the department. I have no doubt that Ed will go on to do some great things in the future and any company would be lucky to have him!

Managing claims from the start through to completion. This involves a range of skills from communication, time management and invoicing. During my time at DistasterCare I have gotten to know an array of new systems such as Symbility, Xactimate and Synergy, used to communicate with clients (Aviva, Axa and The AA). In my first few months of the job I was primarily tasked with adding new claims. However, after being in the job for a few months I now manage claims from start to finish. Working for DisasterCare has enabled me to gain a lot of new skills and grow in confidence in my own ability. It is a pleasure to work for a company that makes a difference to the lives of so many in such a positive way.
