I undertook 2 theses all focused on bioprocess engineering; Major thesis: Testing Hydrolysis Potential of Pseudomonas putida KT2440 Esterases Minor thesis: MmCAR-based hexanol/hexyl acetate production from hexanoate During this time, I found the key esterases that likely affect the production of diols in P. putida by individually expressing all its putative esterases present in Escherichia coli. For the first time, I showed that the production of alcohol (a key intermediate in the microbial production of diol) was possible in P. putida while using the fatty acid route. Show less
