I am currently responsible for a portfolio of over 15 multi-disciplinary research projects across a range of sectors, reporting internal progress to C-Tech’s Research and Innovation Director. My role involves the building and management of project teams capable of the required integration of technical innovations and commercial focus for the development of successful products and processes. At present I directly line manage 4 experienced project managers and 4 research scientists.

Project Manager

As a project manager in the New Product Development group I was responsible for a number of research and commercial projects. I coordinated a number of Innovate UK and FP7 projects in the waste and recycling sector and organised C-Tech’s external project management offering. I also mentored one of our Research Chemists and introduced them to all aspects of C-Tech’s internal project management processes.

Process Research and Development Chemist

Worked as a PR&D chemist project managing a diverse array of projects and experienced in chemical synthesis on scales ranging from grams to kilograms. R&D to small manufacture of pharmaceutical/speciality intermediates/ingredients. Route evaluation and project management of chemical synthesis projects A significant part of the project management role is liaising with the Client. Ensuring the project specification is accurate and that the Client is kept fully informed of the projects progress. ‘Super user’ of the laboratory LC-MS analytical equipment. I also held the position of the ARSST and VSP thermochemistry equipment specialist. Was part of the management communications team and sitting on the Employee Forum board as Research and Development representative means undertaking a vital role in ensuring the corporate values and organisational strategy are translated to communicate to the workforce. Research Scientist

Worked as a member of the team charged with producing a diverse array of chemical compound libraries. The libraries ranged in size from 10 compounds upwards to a total of 500 or 600 compounds and had to be developed to ensure they were applicable for high throughput synthesis. This involved using varied chemical synthesis methodologies and required significant problem solving and team working. A significant portion of the work carried out relied on knowledge of solid phase synthesis techniques that allowed these skills to be transferred to new environments. This provided an excellent opportunity to broaden the experience of these techniques and their application. Show less
