Primary role was the removal of hazardous chemical waste. -My employment was needed to improve the contract at Cambridge University, and for senior management to get a better understanding of said contract deals. This involved liaising with academic staff and health and safety officers around the site, finding out each of their specific requirements and developing solutions for each of them. -The role included planning and organisation of transport, dangerous materials and equipment. Making sure the materials left the site in a timely manner as to not impact future experiments that were due to take place. Show less

Working at the 'innovation lab' at Newcastle. -Was responsible for packing newly developed products made to be sent to other P&G centres around the world. I would have to prepare hundreds of cartons or plastics bags making sure each was sealed correctly. Using a device call an 'all-fill' I would pack the correct weight into the container and pack that correctly for its transfer either nationally or internationally. -Additionally responsible for the upkeep of the building. All four floors had to maintain standards and would be checked randomly throughout the day. Managed to achieve a satisfactory or above rating on each check during my time there. -Asked for more responsibilities and was trained how to safely handle enzymes and was then involved in preparing product through the measuring and addition of enzymes. • Customer Care Advisor ASOS Campaign
      • Oct 2015 - Feb 2016

Responded to email enquiries from customers on behalf of ASOS. -Main part of the job was to respond to customers e-mails and answer their issues. These could range from asking where their order is, complaints about their order to general questions about a product. -I achieved the number of responses per hour desired and then exceeded that two weeks into the job, when they asked for it to be done within a month and did this without sacrificing the quality of the response. -I took on extra responsibility where I could by becoming a 'floor-walker'. This involved me helping others respond to e-mails and how to respond the correct way. After a short time I was reporting on the progress on the team to the team leader. Letting him know how was doing well, and how some could improve. -Although the main role was to respond to e-mails I would occasionally call should the situation require it. -I also passed all monthly exams, the purpose of which was to remind of us the correct procedure as well as additional exams such as on security and fraud prevention. >Took a poll amongst colleagues to alter the language ASOS recommended in the emails. The 'tone of voice' was an important part of how we were graded and important for ASOS' image. I felt the language was patronising and didn't display empathy. As a result I took steps to talk to senior management to alter this and was successful. Once it was changed their was a spike in positive feedback from customers. Show less

Placement year during my degree. -Sole person responsible for the synthesis of new catalysts for testing. Would aid my supervisor in the development in the recipes for the catalysts. I would follow the instructions given and test the catalyst after each stage of their multistage development providing feedback and updates to improve the understanding of the synthesising process. -After training on various analytical machines I assisted in interpreting the date gathered. Under the supervision of my supervisors I have assisted in the synthesis and analysis of FT catalysts. My primary work is in the synthesis of the catalysts themselves. I have taken on additional responsibility in the form of legionella training and also passed an in-house qualification on the safe and correct use of gas cylinders which are required to keep the rigs operational. > After the development of a 'research matrix' the R&D team I was part of had been developed I synthesised the most selective and active catalyst that had ever been recorded. I was also the only person able to repeat this synthesis after others members of the R&D team tried to without getting results as high. I then worked alongside them and showed them how to attain the results I had. Show less
