Ed is an employment partner who works with corporate clients mainly in the infrastructure, engineering and TMT sectors. Ed is well renowned for his specialism in advising the infrastructure and engineering sectors. Whilst he advises on all areas of employment law, Ed has been involved in most of the infrastructure and engineering sector’s significant HR issues over the years. Ed has advised his infrastructure and engineering clients on the issues relating to holiday pay, ‘Blacklisting’ allegations, skills shortages and the so-called “rank and file” protests. Ed also has extensive experience in handling high-profile industrial relations matters for clients. He has broad contentious experience both in the High Court and Employment Tribunal. This includes boardroom disputes and the protection of his client's business interests through the use of restrictive covenants. Ed also leads the team’s support in relation to outsourcing support and TUPE strategy on the many large projects handled by the firm, working alongside clients and the firm’s highly rated TMT team. Ed has proven ability to work as a supporting expert on the employment aspects of the negotiation of variations to major and strategically significant central government and public body outsourcing contracts. He is able to evidence a strong track record as a project lead and supporting expert team member that works productively alongside central government teams.Ed has been described in Legal 500 as "rigorous and clever, with a good tactical head". Chambers & Partners praise him for some "outstanding work on difficult issues" and with “fantastic experience of the construction industry with impressive responsiveness and levels of client service.”He is a regular speaker and writer on employment law. Ed co-authored “Employment Law for the Construction Industry” (Second edition 2008, Thomas Telford).
