Ed Chio, DMD joined the CAP Sonoma Board of Directors in August 2021 and serves on its finance and HR committees. He is a practicing dentist and has been caring for the underserved majority of his dental career. Chio served as an executive, the Dental Director, and a dentist of West County Health Centers, Inc., a federally qualified health center with over 200 employees and a budget over $20 million. His primary responsibilities included providing direct patient care, overseeing operations, budgeting, and ensuring risk management. He not only had frequent interactions with the Chief Executive Officer and executive team members, but also with community health advocates and leaders at the local, county, and state levels. He helped launch the California Dental Transformation Initiative and Perinatal and Infant Oral Health Quality Improvement Project. Dr. Chio completed UCSF School of Medicine and CA Department of Public Health’s Champion Provider Fellowship 2017 cohort. Dr. Chio completed the year-long training by the National Oral Health Learning Institute, which provides core knowledge and competencies that health center/safety-net oral health leaders need to develop as effective managers, directors, and advocates for oral health and their communities.
