Uppingham School has, arguably, the very best sports facilities in the country and is undergoing a number of exciting changes as it drives towards sporting excellence. As a Graduate Sports Assistant, my main focus will be to enhance the quality of the school's Cricket Programme, along with being attached as a Tutor in one of the school's fifteen boarding houses. Main Duties Include: • I am responsible for supporting the Director of Sport, Heads of Sport and staff members within the Physical Education department at one of the UK’s premier co-educational boarding schools. I assist with delivering a vibrant, stimulating and energetic sports development programme that enables the Uppingham pupils to enhance their skills in a variety of different sports by engaging with high-class coaches in their specific fields. • Alongside the support of the school’s central sports development programme, I also undertake departmental administration, including organising and arranging fixtures, as well as producing top quality training programmes. • The planning and coaching of cricket sessions for all squads, including one-to-one and small group training programmes. • House Tutor in one of the school’s fifteen boarding houses, where I am responsible for the mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing of the students. • Cricket Coach
      • Jul 2020 - Sep 2020

During the Summer of 2020, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to undertake a coaching role at Frinton-on-Sea Cricket Club where I mentored, trained, and developed aspiring players in enhancing their cricketing potential. The role consisted of assisting the Head Coach in training/net sessions for all age groups, including the adult teams, along with travelling to away matches with the colts and umpiring. The Coronavirus pandemic created many challenges, however, with protocols and guidance in place, a successful season of coaching was able to occur with all ages being able to participate in weekday training sessions. Hays enabled me to gain valuable knowledge of the business world, trading with companies and creating key relationships with high-net-worth management teams. Recruiting for Her Majesty’s Prison Service on the Construction and Property Team was rewarding and I achieved beyond the expectations of the company by developing the highest fee-earning Construction desk in the whole of the UK (£711,209/yr.). While learning the 360-degree process of recruitment, I employed Site Managers and Supervisors, which involved negotiating with key clients at specific prisons and applicants who were looking for roles within the organisation. Placing candidates into high-paid positions was incredibly fulfilling and enabled me to contribute to business success by increasing fees and maintaining excellent client relationships. Main achievements: I played a crucial role in increasing the team fees from £32k in September 2018 to £74k in July 2019, achieving a 77% fill rate of candidates into roles, the highest across the UK and Ireland. I was highly praised and this was an outstanding success which resulted in being awarded the Consultant of the Month Trophy in recognition of my overall development. Throughout my time at Hays, I received excellent testimonials from clients, along with being invited onto the High-Achiever £20k Club event held in London for exceptional accomplishments. Internal recruitment: Having performed to a high level at Hays, I became a Talent Scout which involved working alongside the Internal Recruitment Team to recruit for Interns, Graduates and Associates for multiple offices across the East of England and the UK. I filled three positions in the Ipswich Office while in the role of Hays Talent Scout, which led to me becoming a Hays Ambassador post-internship. As an Ambassador, I assisted with recruiting prospective Interns, Graduates and Associates by discussing the career opportunities that Hays could offer them. Additional roles: Hays Zero Emissions Leader. Show less

    • Barista
      • Apr 2016 - Jan 2018

In my role as Head Barista I found the experience very rewarding, my main success being contributing to the increased revenue of the company. I gained excellent teamwork and customer service skills, communicating with staff and customers to a very high standard. Working under pressure was a vital part of the role, along with the practical skills that were developed in the art of coffee making, including ensuring high quality design. • Sales Assistant
      • Sep 2015 - Dec 2017

As a Part-Time Sales Assistant my experiences involved problem solving, manual handling and the ability to adapt to different roles within the centre (from working on the tills, to practical work in the outdoor section and deliveries). I was awarded a high level of responsibility in this role and becoming a Head Sales Assistant at a young age was extremely gratifying, with an influential sense of leadership to add to my skillset. In this rotational position, I was granted the opportunity to develop and gain essential professional skills and qualities. Show less

    • Tennis Coach and Leader
      • Mar 2014 - Sep 2014

During the Summer of 2014 I had the fortunate opportunity of becoming a Tennis Leader and Coach at my local tennis club in Frinton-on-Sea. After participating in squad sessions and tournaments for Frinton throughout my younger years (along with still playing today), I was rewarded with a coaching role where the main responsibility was to lead and assist in the Summer Camps alongside the Head Coaches. This role was thoroughly fulfilling and developing leadership qualities at a young age enabled me to enhance my skillset. Being able to improve the performances of aspiring tennis players was a rewarding achievement of mine and gave me confidence going into my first year of A-Levels. Show less
