Bio
James Laubner
Having just completed 6 months in my new expanded Regional role for Amgen in charge of Government Affairs and Advocacy, I had to the time to reflect on the many people that helped get me get to this point. One of those exceptional individuals that stands out to me as a valued mentor and capable artisan in the field of policy and government affairs is Eduardo Pisani. I had the great pleasure to be his direct report for a number of years during a previous role as Director of Government Affairs for Bristol-Myers Squibb. I relied on his deep knowledge of emerging Industry issues, identification of global risks and opportunities, and the mentoring necessary to be more effective at my work internally. I credit him with my past and current desire to directly tie health care policy to market access. His knowledge of how to work constructively and collaboratively with key government officials and other policy makers influential to the management of the healthcare sector helped greatly in having appropriate officials understand the value the products we set as priorities in order to improve patient outcomes and payer value. I found the insight he brought forward helped me more appropriately advise my regional management team at the time on appropriate political and institutional risks and opportunities in the market. I would welcome the chance to work with Eduardo again. I know there is a great deal more still to learn from him.
