Within the Industrial Waste Management Division my challenges include performing regulatory permit audits with the goal to optimize Industrial Classifications of all regulated businesses within the City of Los Angeles. Being a resource for professional committees to draw knowledge and input for industry research and development. Engaging in public outreach with the goal of informing businesses on reducing waste and pollution, connecting them with incentive programs, and informing about new and developing technologies aimed specifically for reduced water usage and pretreatment of industrial waste discharge utilizing green chemistry. Project involvement includes tracking and analyzing reports on biosolids produced at the Publicly Owned Treatment Works run by the City of Los Angeles. Treatment Plant Response with an emphasis on analyzing headworks data and tracing discharges following SOPs and utilizing GIS to locate potential discharges. Local Limits development and implementation that fully complies with federal regulations and State NPDES permits. Show less

Jan 2010 - Aug 2017
I have been doing IT work for several dental offices over the years including American Bright Dental, Grand Orthodontics, and Aero Dental Group DTLA. My work includes diagnosing both hardware and software issues and replacing hardware parts if necessary. Over the course of my work I have replaced many PSU's, motherboards, hard drives, and have set up local networks for file sharing and program compatibility between multiple devices. I have encountered many difficult malicious attacks in which a little problem solving and corrective measures have recovered many PC's. Show less

I oversaw the maintenance, training, waste disposal, and lab safety following OSHA guidelines within Dr. Ted Yu's Battery Engineering lab at California State University, Long Beach Within my time conducting research I have designed experiments in lithium/sulfur battery technology using newly developed techniques and have analyzed products with procedures such as FTIR Spectroscopy and XRD. Gained extensive experience using an argon filled glove box for construction of lithium/sulfur batteries. My project involved synthesizing electrode materials and electrolytes that are used in lithium/sulfur battery systems under an air and water free environment. Data from the batteries was analyzed using a NEWARE battery testing system which exported data to excel where mathematical techniques were employed to interpret the findings. My work has been presented at multiple undergraduate and graduate conferences on campus. My team also achieved 1st place at the 2016 IEEE Green Energy and Smart Systems Conference in the student poster competition. The findings have also been accepted to be presented by a still current undergraduate student at the 2017 annual ECS meeting in New Orleans to an audience with high expertise in the fields of electrochemistry and chemical energy systems. Apr 2014 - Jan 2015
I conducted research on an approach to producing amides utilizing carboxylic acids and amines with a triphenylphosphine catalyst that could be developed into a continuous plug flow reactor to minimize pharmaceutical production costs. Gained experience with purification methods such as radial chromatography using a multitude of solvent systems and got hands-on experience analyzing final products using NMR spectroscopy. My time in the lab taught me how to properly keep a lab notebook and record chemical inventory. Duties within the lab included housekeeping and cleaning all glassware used daily. Routine work included utilizing a nitrogen atmosphere within the reaction flasks and learning separation techniques along with a rotary evaporator to obtain the final products. The summer research was funded by a grant from HSI STEM. Show less
