At Govjunction, I led the development of an Internship for Democratic Engagement for Action (IDEA) program that supports young people to design their own strategies to address issues that affect their local communities. Youth Employment &Entrepreneurship Specialist

I coordinate and implement activities aimed at enhancing the employability levels of youth in Machakos. I lead entrepreneurial training and support youth to initiate sustainable Income generating activities to enhance their livelihood. I have coordinated training of 186 youths from marginalized parts of Mwala Sub-county, Machakos on life skills, financial literacy, career guidance, entrepreneurship, employability. Led business pitching initiatives aimed at supporting ideal business ideas with startup kits. Job center; this is an entrepreneurship and employment hub for the youth in Machakos. The hub centralizes youth opportunities to enable young people to access them easier, offers mentorship and guidance on entrepreneurship and employability for the youth, ICT training. I led in its establishment with the county government of Machakos and its official launch. Currently supporting youths make us of the resource in this facility. Show less

In the International Citizen Service project(ICS); an FCDO funded project that promotes community development through volunteerism. I led teams of 30 UK and Kenyan volunteers to mentor local youth entrepreneurs to address youth unemployment. I conducted participatory action research to improve the project plans, facilitated detailed project training to volunteers, identified and secured meaningful networks and partnerships with other development actors.Some of the roles include; Project development in the host community, Relationship management, and partnership working, Reporting, M&E, Budget Management, Promote active citizenship amongst the youth, Project Administration and Logistics, volunteer management and support. I coordinate the implementation of other projects aimed at creating/identifying youth engagement platforms, developing youth leadership, social accountability, Participatory Action Research as well as policy.As a result of the COVID19 pandemic, I was involved in restructuring the project to address challenges associated with the pandemic. I had a direct experience with various businesses in Nakuru by my interaction with the entrepreneurs. i helped them understand their businesses better besides trying to innovate some aspects with an aim of growing the businesses. Entrepreneurship is the key to financial security. this became real over the period as i witnessed entrepreneurs gain this kind of security. i believe this lays the solution to the unemployment situation in Kenya. I volunteered in Taita Taveta for 12 weeks, working with marginalized groups of youth, women, persons with disability, persons living with HIV/AIDs as well as young people in schools. The unstructured nature of the program enhanced my working on my own initiative attribute. I supported 2 women groups initiate Income Generating Activities, implement and Education Empowerment Project, resource mobilized for the project, evaluated and awarded students in the project, organized and implemented community events aimed at creating awareness on global issues.
