  As manager of the sector I created the conditions for the team of 24 staff to achieve the goals in disaster risk reduction in areas frequently hidden by disasters and to respond timely and effectively to emergencies providing humanitarian assistance. I ensured that people were equipped to perform and monitored the performance at program and personal level. I ensured that people were equipped to perform and monitored the performance at program and personal level. I encouraged to keep the policy for emergency assistance relevant and connected to a structural perspective. I worked with the team on choices for specialization and priority setting. I developed and maintained a network of consultants, I represented Cordaid in international networks such as Caritas Internationalis and contributed to a more common approach and standards and in Dutch organizations such as SHO. I took an active role in communicating the need of emergency aid and communicating our good practice for instance in the case of Haiti and Eastern Africa.

Voice&Choice a project started to saveguard the voice of the South in Cordaid's choices for the Strategy 2011 - 2015. My achievement was the establishment of an International Advisory Board and the selection of members for the Board. I also organized that input from partner organizations on the strategic choices was received. After the earth quake in Haiti Cordaid was the organizations that received the biggest part of the funds raised by SHO. As projectleader I achieved a certain level of coordination of the structural activities with the activities oriented at the reconstruction of the country. Show less
