GTGs are reimbursement-based grants from Graduate Student Government that support graduate student travel to conferences, workshops, and field experiences. As the Director of Communications, I organized and conducted information sessions and workshops for each grant application period. This includes cross-functional communications with various departments across the University, delegating advertising tasks to staff, and frequently presenting in front of large audiences. I also analyzed program statistics and design strategic targeting for programs with low applicant numbers. I increased applications by 74.75% and secured funding increases by over $95,363. Other tasks included creating graphic content for Instagram and collateral for distribution, as well as onboarding new staff members by inputting them into organization database systems. Show less

This included facilitating international partnerships throughout Europe and North America. I was responsible for managing the CEO’s blog and the company’s social media channels, which include LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. I additionally assisted the CEO in customer support services, business analysis, process improvements, and strategy management of software product operations. As a result from my outreach, we went from an average of 3.3 weekly meetings with distributors to 7.5 meetings, which is a 127% increase. This accounted for 22% of the CEO's total weekly meetings. I was an instructor for two communication courses (COMM 1501: Introduction to Public Speaking) that specializing in speech writing and delivery. I instructed, graded, and provided verbal and written feedback for 50 students per semester. This included creating a course syllabus, developing and implementing lesson plans, and facilitating learning in a hybrid learning environment. In a spring 2022 survey, 100% of my students reported a decrease in speech anxiety compared to their initial ratings at the beginning of the semester. Additionally, a colleague and I transformed the Technology Speech assignment in our curriculum. The original assignment required students to record a video giving a speech on a product they liked. We revamped this assignment by having students write Cover Letters. After this, they were partnered up with another student within their major/field and took turns conducting interviews via Zoom using common interview questions. This assignment helped students to learn how to effectively communicate in an online format, develop workforce skills, increase collaboration, and learn how to efficiently sell themselves in an interview.
