    • Menu planner/ Weekend Cook
      • Jan 2013 - Present

As a menu planner I have organized a 12 week rotation that includes 1 dinner, 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches. It is my job to shop for all the ingredients, to know portions and amounts for a large scale of people and to prepare the food in time for each slot that is set for a meal. I have to be very particular about time management and have had to learn to work around other Cook Teams who are preparing for 100+ when I am preparing for 50 people. I must be flexible and have spontaneity. If there isn't enough food or one of the ovens is down or I have an issue, I must be able to think quickly and come up with something else in time. After everything is out at required time and designated area, I am responsible for cleaning the work station, doing dishes and organizing fridges and cupboards. Show less

    • Receptionist
      • Jan 2013 - Jun 2013

As a receptionist at Living Hope I was in charge of manning phones, organizing mail, running errands, recording information, sending messages and other normal reception duties. Because of this church's demographic I had to learn to deal with some potentially dangerous people, solicitors, homeless community, any one needing money/food/clothing. I was at the root of any situation and I was the initial encounter for anyone who entered the building. I had to balance protecting myself, practicing safety, enforcing the church's mission statement, having compassion, following procedure and staying 100% professional. If all the steps I was given to handle a situation safely, stay compassionate plus remaining professional I needed to find a loop hole and figure out a way to diffuse any conflict or handle a situation properly and correctly.
