Account Manager (TEPS)
-
Jan 2011 - Present
I oversaw the launch of Cat truck into the on highway truck market at the Altorfer Cat Cedar Rapids location. Serving Eastern Iowa and North East Missouri. When that program was terminated, I transitioned into my current role as Truck Engine (TEPS) Manager. That includes communicating marketing programs from Caterpillar to affiliated dealers in Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. Those include Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner and International dealers. It’s part communication interspersed with clarification, trouble shooting and problem solving. Show less

Account Manager
-
Apr 2003 - Sep 2010
As the head of sales for Cedar Rapids Mack and Volvo, I managed the existing vocational truck accounts, including specing and ordering new dump truck and mixer chassis, matching orders with the vendors' time line for installing concrete mixer bodies and getting the end product to the client within specified deadlines. I was also in charge of purchasing highway and vocational trucks for the dealer's inventory, and overseeing the sales staff's management of our products. I became a subject matter expert for what features did and did not work well in an on/off road dump truck/concrete mixer platform for both our product and the industry as a whole. I initiated a program for in-house installation of dump boxes and pusher axles on stock vocational chassis. Making sure I was familiar with changes in EPA regulations concerning new trucks and the way it would shape our industry was a key priority of mine during this time Show less

For nearly 13 years I was the owner-operator of E.L. Smith trucking. My primary contract was with Hawkeye Convenience Stores. I supplied refined fuel for their stores in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois, including both gasoline and racing fuel. I managed station inventory and kept track of amount of product required to be drawn from different suppliers. I carried approximately 1,000 loads a year, often exceeding 9,000,000 gallons annually. I kept strict compliance with state and federal safety regulations for both motor freight and haz-mat.
