Equiteq supported the owners of firms in the ‘Knowledge Economy’ helping them prepare their businesses for a sale and then advising on and delivering maximum value in the sale process. As a Managing Director in the M&A team, my role primarily involved running deals from start to finish including origination, overseeing the preparation phase, contacting and negotiating with prospective counterparties, and managing the execution phase through to completion. Alongside M&A execution, I lead the firm's UK private equity (sponsor) coverage, developing strong relationships with most of the UK’s lower and mid-market investment houses (as well as debt funds and other lenders). As an increasing proportion of transactions in the sector are with financial investors, this role was core to Equiteq’s successful growth over recent years, including the development of the firm’s reputation in the market. As one of the longest serving members of the team at Equiteq and, as such, in particular given my level, was instrumental in building the M&A team; including recruitment, training, resourcing and ensuring there is a good culture.Completed deals include the following:o Nicholas O’Dwyer / RSK (March 2020)o Access Partnership / Mobeus Equity (November 2019)o JC Rathbone Associates (backed by Connection Capital) / Chatham Financial (November 2019)o Orbium / Accenture (February 2019)o The NAV People / FPE Capital (June 2018)o Dartmouth Partners / Literacy Capital (June 2018)o Biotech Quality Group / Assystem (December 2017)o Certeco / P2 Consulting (September 2017)o Aecus / The Hackett Group (May 2017)o Acutest / Capita (January 2017)o P2 Consulting / Lonsdale Capital (December 2016)o GBR Phoenix Beard / Savills (August 2016)o Suiko / Turner & Townsend (June 2016)o The Test People / Centre4 Testing (now Ten10), backed by Livingbridge (December 2015)
