During my Masters, I worked as a research assistant to tackle my thesis topic: Implications of large-scale Everglades restoration for bats, with particular emphasis on the endangered Florida bonneted bat (Eumops floridanus). This project involved extensive planning and managing logistics for team of 4-8 deploying four rounds of 194 acoustic detector sites in five preserves across southwest Florida spanning over 3,000 detector nights and two years of data collection. I also managed full analysis and writing of project and manuscripts, including over 10 TB of data. During this time, I received the Katherine T. McCarter Graduate Student Policy Fellowship Award Recipient (Spring 2022). I was also the Wildlife Graduate Student Association Mentorship co-chair (Fall 2021-Summer 2022). Additionally, I served as a guest lecturer for various classes and events: Facilitation skills: Physical & emotional wellbeing and safety in the field (Spring 2020); Wildlife Techniques field course: bat ecology/netting portion (Spring 2021 & 2022); Environment & Society: History of environmental sociological frameworks (Fall 2022) & The Everglades Audubon Society: Fire, trees, water, and Everglades restoration: Conservation implications for Florida’s “swamp” bats (Florida bonneted bats). This was an independent Research Fellowship exploring the impact of land-use changes on pollinator communities in the cloud-forest lowlands of western Ecuador. This involved planning of the project, delineation of habitat types, collection of insect pollinators, and analysis of data collected for development into manuscripts for publication. For this position, I worked as as Americorps fellow in the resource management department of Lassen Volcanic National Park. In this position, I worked in a team setting to conduct vegetation surveys for rare plants, document plant diversity, and execute integrated pest management plans and monitor success of plans. I also performed acoustic bat surveys, analyzed acoustic data & wrote reports documenting bat diversity. Furthermore, I developed NPS protocol to guide acoustic bat monitoring analysis for the park. We also performed wildlife surveys for birds (mist-netting & point counts), bats, pikas & meso-carnivores. Show less

For this position, I was supported by a Spurlino fellowship during the summer of 2017, and following this, I worked in the Dunham lab as part of my senior thesis. During this time I aided a PhD student on their project exploring the pollen transfer of rare trees. During this position, I assisted in the development of a pollen library for a genus of rare trees in Cameroon and worked to determine if rare trees transferred a disproportionate amount of conspecific pollen.
