      • Jan 1985 - Jan 1992

Owner and operational manager of a 150 seat restaurant in San Diego, CA. Managed a staff of 60 employees with an eclectic menu. Del Rio hosted "Lights out Jazz" entertainment, breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week and various private parties. The challenges of client services, staff management, food and beverage price-points and inventory controls, required daily accountability to maintain a profitable return in the low-margin business of owning a restaurant. I considered my years as a restaurant owner an essential education to being a successful entrepreneur.

    • Club Manager
      • Jan 1980 - Jan 1985

I helped open and manage the Carmel Valley Golf and Tennis Club in Carmel California, working with Landmark Land (then the largest golf development corporation in the US). Both golf and tennis operations were dedicated to private membership and a gated community surrounding these clubhouses. My management duties included the golf and tennis clubhouse membership services, food and beverage operations and coordinating various tournaments and social functions. • Tournament Coordinator
      • 1976 - 1979

Colgate Palmolive Sports hosted the prestigious, televised Colgate Dinah Shore LPGA Golf Tournament, LPGA Match Play Series, Colgate World Series Tennis Championships, a World Cup Golf Tournament (1976) and a Davis Cup Tennis Tournament (1978). My tournament job description was to coordinate the construction of each event, manage 500+ volunteers, supervise the tournament operations and provide delicate liaison with our tournament sponsors and athletes.Kraft Nabisco replace Colgate Palmolive as the event sponsor in 1979-80 and I was hired as tournament coordinator for the San Francisco Trans American Tennis Tournament.
