Beth was my manager at Zynga on Star Wars Hunters. In my career, I've had a few managers, but never one that really seemed to care about me beyond what my productivity was. Beth is what a good manager should be in the industry. Not only is she exceptional at her craft, but her soft skills make her the perfect candidate for leadership and management. She cared about the team, both as the people implementing the game and as developers who were trying to learn and grow their skillsets. She did an excellent job protecting against burnout and load balancing her team to keep us all healthy and productive. Beth is a ridiculously good level designer. She has such a strong shooter foundation, her "design eye" is so finely tuned she sees issues in maps and has several solutions ready to go immediately. She has reached the level of skill that she just instinctively knows what will work and what won't. Even better, she's very good at explaining the reasons to her team. I spent 18 months working with her and learned years worth of good level design knowledge from her. She's also flexible in her design - always willing to collaborate and adapt to make sure that our designs are truly what's best for the game. She's fantastic at building and training a team. She set up processes that helped our sub-team get ahead and stay ahead of our deadlines. She is the best at giving feedback - clearly stating if something has to change or if it's just a suggestion and making sure all the goals of the other disciplines are being met. Beth is extremely professional. She never lost her cool, even during times of great stress and rapid change. Even in instances where any reasonable person would lose their temper. Not only would I work with Beth again, but I would hire her immediately if I were ever given that chance.

It was an absolute pleasure to work alongside Beth in our time together at Zynga. She is a wonderful combination of talented, driven, thorough, thoughtful, motivating, and kind. She is an expert in level design, and elevates her discipline both from the skills and knowledge she brings to the role, and also her ability to build a collaborative team focused around common goals. She is a great mentor and it was clear from interacting with her team how much she held them up and inspired them. One of the things I also love about Beth is her desire to get to the root of understanding a piece of feedback. Anytime we were in a playtest and someone gave feedback, she was the first person to dig into it more with really thoughtful questions to try to best capture what the intention of the feedback was. I appreciated so much this desire of hers to truly understand a problem someone was trying to communicate before trying to solve it as it always resulted in us having a much deeper understanding of how we might best solve the problem. I look forward to the next time we get to work together and I highly recommend her.
