Eamonn is magic. Having Eamonn as a personal coach helped me grow and develop in so many ways. I learned to navigate and find my place in a tricky relationship; cleared out some associations with past experiences and made way for new healthier ones. He gave me a variety of tools and techniques that I still use to maintain my personal equilibrium. Eamon is always kind, thoughtful, and wholehearted in his coaching and I cannot recommend him enough.

As coordinator of the Creativity, Activity, Service programme I help students to identify areas of interest and to create or adapt their experiences to the requirements of the programme. A coaching approach is essential for helping students to extend and develop their own ideas while keeping accountable to the requirements.I have also created and implemented several new structures to give the programme a greater impact on students and a greater visibility in the community.

Coaching is an incredibly powerful tool for helping people grow and I take every opportunity to implement a coaching approach when working with my colleagues and students.I was also delighted to have the opportunity to design and lead a pilot Coaching-based Professional Appraisal system. As part of this programme, I trained colleagues in coaching methods and coached them as they developed their skills while working towards their individual professional goals.

I teach two courses at ISU: Theory of Knowledge (a required critical thinking course) and German Ab Initio (beginners level language course). In both courses I provide engaging and challenging content designed to help students take and develop agency for their own learning and development. I take a coaching approach to working with students in all of my classes, helping them to identify their own learning goals, to develop strategies to meet them and to take action.Beyond my teaching duties, I am co-sponsor of the school’s Eco-Council, a group of students working to raise awareness of the global environmental crisis and to inspire our community to take action. Compassion is the secondary school’s theme this year and I took the initiative to start a team to help keep discussion of the theme alive throughout the year.During the COVID-19 lockdown I designed and delivered a high-quality remote learning programme and maintained a high level of professional communication and collaboration with colleagues. In my role as the first Service Learning Coordinator at ISU, I worked to extend and develop the service-based learning taking place in the school. This included taking an inventory of the SL projects already in place, identifying a suitable structure for formalizing and deepening the quality of SL in the school and starting a pilot program to test the structure in practice.

    • Personal and Professional Coach
      • Sep 2015 - Present

My driving passion is helping people to recognize and appreciate their own unique value and to put their talents and skills in action to help them achieve their goals. As a personal and professional coach, I work with clients on a diverse range of issues to help them further their growth and transformation. My key strengths as a coach are strong listening skills, a strong sense of empathy, and a keen belief in my clients’ power to shape their lives. In addition to helping clients create their own strategies for personal growth, I also develop tools and resources for their independent use. I work with clients both in person and remotely. I was hired by Marc Löffler to translate his book on Agile retrospectives, Retrospektiven In Der Praxis, from German into English. During the process, I worked closely with the author to ensure that his message was clearly, accurately and effectively translated. The English version of the book, Improving Agile Retrospectives, was published in 2017 by Addison-Wesley Professional.
