My responsibilities at school were always to get a well rounded education first. This meant more than just attending class. I went on two different Alternative Spring Break trips with a group of my peers. The objective of the Alternative Spring Break program was to expose students to a new place, whether it was within US borders or abroad, and have them do community service in a community of their choosing. This program taught us that community service has less to do with "helping someone else" and more to do with working together with others to become something more as a whole. I also participated in other volunteer opportunities and worked with my fellow peers often during my classes. Show less
