This was the primary job I worked throughout high school for about 3 years. Bourbon Street Pizza was a fairly popular restaurant in my hometown of Plymouth, Indiana. During my time spent there, I held just about every position you could think of. I ran the pizza oven, took orders over the phone, was a delivery driver, made the actual pizzas, and more. My favorite position was "slapping" pizzas which is the process of stretching out raw dough into pizza form (and sometimes throwing it up in the air for show). After various promotions, I became an Assistant Manager of the restaurant at 18. I was responsible for managing all employees on staff during a particular shift, opening/closing the store, handling financials at the end of each night, and depositing store money into the bank. I successfully ran shifts on even the busiest of nights where we generated lots of revenue. I managed people of all different backgrounds and even some that were much older than myself. I'm still friends with many of those people today. I have lots of stories from my time working at Bourbon Street.

    • Grocery Stocker
      • May 2015 - Aug 2016

This was my first "official" job I started working at 15 years old. I started as a grocery bagger and worked my way up to shelf-stocker, which was great because pay increased from $7.25 to $8.00. I loved this job because, being from a small town, I either knew or came to know the people whose groceries I bagged. It was always great when people would come to my line specifically because they etrusted me to not crack their eggs or they just wanted to catch up. Maybe it was a bit of both. When I started stocking shelves, I always had to ask Tony who ran the meat department what aisle to go to for specific items. He still gives me a hard time to this day if I'm ever back in the store.
