To whom it may concern (i.e. the lucky person working with Dylan in his capacity as an IT Professional!): I've had the absolute pleasure of working with Dylan Beardshear for many years and in many, many different situations as an IT Professional. I use that term because Dylan's experience and ability to slot into whatever role is necessary make any one term difficult to cover them all. Whatever your IT or IT affiliated needs are, Dylan has you covered. I'd like to very specifically call out three of Dylan's skills that I feel make him a valuable asset on ANY team: Communication. Dylan is one of the best written and spoken communicators I've worked with in IT. He possesses that rare ability to translate IT to non-IT folks, and vice-versa. And like any great communicator he understands communication is always two-ways - he is an expert at listening for and interpreting issues at their roots, deciphering or cutting away whatever jargon or unclear language was involved. Expertise. Dylan goes out of his way to learn new technologies, and more than that he also works hard to become expert at them. No-one can be the best at everything but Dylan tries and is a role-model for his coworkers on staying up-to-date and deeply understanding the technology he manages. Ownership. I saved the most important trait for last. As a manager this was probably what I valued most in Dylan - he owned any and all issues, projects, or work that came across his desk. Too often in IT people get siloed and the pass-the-buck mentality is normalized. Dylan prides himself on owning issues to completion, whether that is an incident, a project assigned to him, or something he sees and takes initiative on. I will very dearly miss the ability to ask Dylan to look into something knowing that it will be handled in it's entirety with little (to no) oversight. Dylan was also an exemplary role-model for his coworkers, and I wish him all the best and look forward to watching him grow into a strong IT leader and further his IT expertise as he sets off for new horizons.
