After working for about four years as a Records Management Assistant while in college. I worked my way up, and got promoted to become the Records Management Coordinator. The Records Management department started with four people, and I'm now running the department by myself. Records Management handles conflicts of interest reports, opening and closing files, among many other tasks. I update my job knowledge daily by participating in continuing educational processes, reading legal publications and maintaining personal networks. I review and interpret legal documents, including affidavits and sworn testimony. I communicate with clients and their families when necessary to facilitate a positive working environment. I report office progress to senior management, and work with my team to improve our office operations and procedures. I started out scanning and reviewing files for vitals. Vital documents are government documents containing information about a person's important life events. Vital documents include last will and testaments, trusts, and marriage certificates among many other documents. I organized files in our document management system along with the physical files of the firm. I also created inventory lists and did various other projects for attorneys, paralegals and administrative assistants.
