I work as the lead mechanical engineer for Gibson Robotics. In this role, I am an integral part of a successful and growing start up as I design and develop mechanical and aeronautical components for counter drone systems.

As part of Ros’ team I perform a variety of jobs, including waiting tables, preparing and serving canapes, manning the bar and aiding in the general set up of the events. These events range from large parties held in manor houses to pre-proms and weddings. Over the past few years I have worked whenever I’ve been needed in our family owned gift shop, mainly dealing with customers and money as well as changing over stock, making sure the displays look as appealing as possible to customers. In 2014, Many Thanks was expanded to also be a coffee shop and art gallery. This meant that I too had to expand my knowledge and abilities to successfully make coffees, prepare food, and discuss and sell artwork. Wool Packer and Farm Hand

As part of a team of three, I dealt with farmers when they brought bags of their wool to us, assorted that wool into various categories and then packed it into compressed bales using a hydraulic press. As well as this, I played a part in the running of the farm. I could fill all the required front of house positions at The Fairburn, either working behind the bar or waiting tables in the restaurant as well as fulfilling the general tasks that allow the place to run smoothly and providing the best possible experience for our customers. This included, but was not limited to, upholding the highest levels of hygiene, working with money, pleasantly communicating with customers both in person and on the phone, and working efficiently as part of a larger team. Through these roles, I increased my communication, negotiation and teamworking skills, as well as my self-confidence.

For a week in June I worked with Virtual Interconnect in their main office in Glasgow as part of work experience for school. I was given an insight in how the company was run, how they advertise and deal with buyers, and what kind of work they do. I was shown a little of how they made CAD libraries for different programs, how they designed products like electrical harnesses, and how their products were coded. Farm Hand

From the age of 11, I worked on the dairy farm and estate that we lived on, where I helped with the daily running of the farm and during my later years there I helped with the seasonal work. During this time, I developed a vast range of skills and gained a large depth of knowledge about farming and manual labour.
