When I started my Publishing and Design Agency I was determined to make use of quality freelance designers, and Dylan was my first. Dylan has always had an impeccable work ethic, something that cannot be taught, especially to a young man needing to pay his rent every month. I believe good design can never be taught but rather finessed and complimented through thought leadership and an understanding of ever evolving trends. Dylan and I worked together on many high profile design and publishing projects and always surpassed the client brief and expectations. The proudest moment in our relationship was when Dylan told me he could no longer work for me as he has been awarded the role as Art Director at FHM. From humble beginnings as designer I worked my way up the ranks to art director where I was in charge of the look and feel of the publication from cover to cover. Everything from conceptualising articles with the team and penning reviews of dvd's and music albums to briefing illustrators to deliver amazing artwork. I also briefed and directing photographers, stylists and hair and make-up artists for a variety of super shoots over the years – all while doing actual layouts too. Included in my responsibilities was managing work flow with the managing editor to meet various deadlines, dealing with the publishers, the production and repro guys and finding solutions to make production easier and more efficient. All-in-all I had a fantastic ride and gathered mountains of experience that I hope will make my future endeavors exciting, creative and fruitful. Show less
