  My work involves epidemic prediction modeling for wheat streak mosaic virus. WSMV can cause millions of dollars of yield loss to wheat during outbreak years. By using historical weather data it is possible to predict the current weather is conducive for disease. My project is intended to be used as a tool for farmers to assist management decisions. Another aspect to my study is to test current wheat varieties for their susceptibility towards WSMV. This study provides helpful information on the range of susceptibility to this disease in current wheat cultivars. Show less
