  Volunteered at K9 Law Enforcement whilst studying part time in 2019 where I was selected to train as a Detection K9 Handler. Since the completion of my DH1 – DH5 courses I have been posted at the following National Key Points and other various contracts for K9 screening, detection and patrolling as broken down below. NATIONAL KEY POINTS (N. K. P.) National Key Points / locations deployed at: - OR Tambo International Airport - Cape Town International Airport - Durban International Airport - East London Airport - George Airport • Screening and patrolling in and around the N.K.P. buildings. • Screening of passengers and their luggage to prevent the carriage of any unauthorised explosives or improvised explosive devices. Detect traces of handling of incendiary devices and explosives. Upon detection, subject person and items to secondary screening and interviewing. • Screening and reporting of unattended bags and vehicles or any suspicious activity. • Consult with ACSA, SAPS and CCTV personnel on any security matters. FREIGHT FORWARDING AND CARGO CONTRACTS • Screening and clearing outgoing cargo for explosives or narcotic substances. • Report suspicious cargo for further screening via the correct communication channels. • Liaise with clients regarding screening times and volumes. REHABILITATION CENTRES • Search patient’s rooms and communal areas for forbidden narcotic substances. • Deter attempts to introduce narcotics in the psychiatric hospital • Report findings to Akeso personnel for further investigation. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Training • Prepare and attend regular training sessions for the team • Submit training reports to the training manager. • Attend additional training courses when available. Certifications and Permits • Ensure all certifications and permits are valid and up to date. • Attend annual certifications hosted by South African Civil Aviation Authority (C.A.A.) and bi-annual internal certifications (verified by C.A.A.)
