Job PurposeResponsible for the accurate, effective and smooth management of the running of broadcast channels on behalf of clients, in a transmission environment within Television Media. Responsible for effective line management and development of a group of Playout Directors.Key Accountabilities• Ensure that all media schedules are ready for Playout and they conform with Ofcom guidelines• Ensuring that detailed checking is in place such that all media material is accurate and consistent with paper and computerised information in line with the client’s requirements• To achieve precise timings by altering junctions, sometimes at the last minute• To be aware of and able to deploy the Disaster Recovery where necessary and be prepared to make changes at last minute• To ensure that standby material is at hand for matters of emergency or equipment failure• To always be aware of current affairs and their impact on the media material and schedules and suggest changes as per client guidelines• To react and use emergency and manual processes to redress any incident affecting TX, in the shortest possible time, thus ensuring minimal outage time• Line management, development and performance management of team of operational staff; this will include monthly meetings and quarterly appraisals and objective review.• Identify individual training needs and feed into the learning and development plan• Carry out team briefings on behalf of team manager, as required

Employed as a Streaming Editor on Big Brother Live, making edit decisions before the transmission of material and working to an extremely tight deadline of 15 minutes. Due to the time constraints it was essential that the editorial decisions were made, and the edits performed, with speed and accuracy. The role required the ability to produce output that was interesting to the viewer, yet within the parameters of the programme code of OFCOM, the broadcasters’ regulator. As of 2006, also part of the team responsible for reversion of the post watershed Big Brother Highlights programme making it suitable for transmission during family viewing. On occasions involved in other Channel 4 programmes including the yearly V Festival and 2005 reality series Space Cadets.
