Colin Richardson MIET

Duncan was responsible for all the electrical design at the £110m M+W waste to energy project in Horsham. Duncan's understanding of highly complex MEP systems and SCADA control is at the highest level. With his committed and hard working attitude, I would not hesitate to recommend him, and hopefully work with him again in the future.

Eddie Mealy

Duncan is a competent, who has excellent technical and IT skills. He is fully conversant with all the main engineering software programs for CAD, Cable Sizing, Lighting Design, Daylighting etc and can produce full detailed design packages under his own initiative. Duncan has good communication skills, is a good team player and can remain client focused.

Working on a number of large projects producing designs, including calculations specifications and drawings for building services in new and refurbished buildings, and for waste retrieval and processing plant. Fully trained in the use of AutoCAD. The building services I am experienced in include: determining the location of a packaged substation based on load centre, accessibility and cabling, design of 400v main distribution equipment and cabling, including cable sizing, cable routing, lighting, small power, fire alarms, emergency lighting, earthing and lightning protection, public address, data and communication systems etc. I carried out manual lighting calculations to check manufacturer’s proposals. I also determined number and location of fire alarm devices to ensure compliance with BS 5839. In all these building services I produced layout drawings in AutoCAD based on the architectural drawings. I also carried out sizing of protective devices to ensure protection of the circuit and discrimination between protective devices. As well as carrying out some manual calculations I also used the Amtech pro design package. Attendance at HAZOPS and working along side safety case authors to ensure design risks were ALARP. With all the projects I worked on I had to manage my own workload to deliver project milestones. Show less
