I founded and grew this firm from the ground-up until its eventual acquisition. As one of the first-ever geophysical consultancy firms in the Singaporean market, my main objective was to secure a strong foothold, and expand the market footprint of my firm, which involved charting our overarching strategic direction. I was directly invited to join the company as a pioneer employee, and partnered others in developing and establishing the new geophysics department from scratch. This represented Ryobi’s initial foray into Singapore’s geophysical survey sector, a first-ever for the firm. I conducted geological research centred around the Japan and Yellow Seas, and spearheaded various exploration operations in South Korea’s EEZ: I was mostly involved in geological and geophysical surveys & data interpretation, and carried out multichannel seismic surveys, shallow seismic, multibeam, magnetometer and sonar surveys in the Exclusive Economic Zone of South Korea during this period.
