My role was to help produce a toolkit for the 53 European Member States before presentation at 67th Session WHO Regional Committee for Europe. The framework will outline steps towards a sustainable health workforce and will include an illustrative toolkit of examples of good practice along with policy and planning tools. I have been contributing case studies of success stories. These have ranged from how Malta has dealt with severe emigration of doctors to the UK, to how Russia and Norway have collaborated to deliver healthcare services to rural populations. The target audience for the document is politicians and policy makers. However, the document has been considered to include healthcare professionals, healthcare employers, regulatory bodies, and the wider community. Additionally I edited Policy Briefs (Medical Education and the Bologna Process: Implications for Policy) and articles in Panorama (the journal of the WHO Regional Office for Europe). Show less

STARsurg is an international audit collaborative. Jonathan was Regional lead for the North-East and Cumbria conducting the OAKS2 Project involving follow-up of the patients originally included in the OAKS-1 study, in order to audit their post-discharge care and outcomes. This informed the prioritisation and design of future post-audit interventions targeted at improving patients’ care. STARsurg is an international audit collaborative.
