Key Accomplishments:Formed and led a Cloud Center of Excellence comprised of specialists in software engineering, cloud engineering, QE, Security, tasked with developing WGU’s cloud migration strategy. Planned and executed team-level training engagements with each engineering team at WGU to prepare the teams for migrating on-prem applications to AWS.Led the design and implementation of reference architecture for cloud-based applications embracing 12-factor principles and pioneered the use of infrastructure as code. The resulting solution leveraged Docker, AWS ECS, and related tooling; enabled migration of over 200 microservices from on-prem to AWS.Led design and implementation of CI/CD system leveraging AWS CodeBuild & CodePipeline. This architecture demonstrated the use of modular, reusable components and facilitated WGU’s switch from manual QA and security scanning to automated in-pipeline operations. This system now serves as the basis for WGU’s CI/CD system.Led the development of a standard application runbook and facilitated rollout to WGU’s entire engineering org. This allowed teams to document over 100 services, many of which had incomplete or missing documentation.Designed and implemented org-wide Docker training and Docker champion program to address critical knowledge gap in the organization.
