Key Accomplishments:Onboarded and led a team of high-performing software engineers. The team acted as a force multiplier in engaging with teams that were blocked due to resource, knowledge, and interpersonal issues. Coordinated the org-wide rollout of standard containerization and CI/CD components. This rollout involved cross-departmental engagement with over a dozen engineering teams. Result was improved security posture and a standardized set of tooling for over 200 production microservices.

Staff Software Engineer

Key Accomplishments:Formed and led a Cloud Center of Excellence comprised of specialists in software engineering, cloud engineering, QE, Security, tasked with developing WGU’s cloud migration strategy. Planned and executed team-level training engagements with each engineering team at WGU to prepare the teams for migrating on-prem applications to AWS.Led the design and implementation of reference architecture for cloud-based applications embracing 12-factor principles and pioneered the use of infrastructure as code. The resulting solution leveraged Docker, AWS ECS, and related tooling; enabled migration of over 200 microservices from on-prem to AWS.Led design and implementation of CI/CD system leveraging AWS CodeBuild & CodePipeline. This architecture demonstrated the use of modular, reusable components and facilitated WGU’s switch from manual QA and security scanning to automated in-pipeline operations. This system now serves as the basis for WGU’s CI/CD system.Led the development of a standard application runbook and facilitated rollout to WGU’s entire engineering org. This allowed teams to document over 100 services, many of which had incomplete or missing documentation.Designed and implemented org-wide Docker training and Docker champion program to address critical knowledge gap in the organization.

Key Accomplishments: Architected and led a rewrite of Adobe Analytics' Data Feeds. Reduced hardware requirements by 10x, decreased customer latency by up to 85%, and scaled to handle over 40K jobs comprising over 11TB daily. Architected and implemented SLA monitoring system leveraged by Adobe Analytics’ Datafeeds and DataWarehouse. Mitigated customer-facing issues and enabled revenue collection due to SLA guarantees. Architected and implemented automated cluster load balancing for Adobe Analytics’ collection servers. Eliminated over 30 hours of weekly manual reconciliation and eliminated errors that could result in increased customer latency. Led design, implementation, and deployment of Adobe Mobile Push Notification service streaming backend leveraging AWS Kinesis, DynamoDB, and Lambda. Provided throughput of over 1M messages per minute with controls for scaling back during periods of low utilization or increasing throughput as needed.
