HEAVY EQUIP TECH, North American Construction Group, (Fort McMurray, AB) • I spent 7 years with NACG in the Fort McMurray oil sands. For the first three I worked as a field serviceman that approached and serviced heavy equipment in a mine atmosphere. In May of 2011 my performance was rewarded with an opportunity to advance into NACG’s HET apprenticeship program. I passed my first year with 97% receiving the Byron McKenna Memorial Award for exhibiting & promoting safety in the shop and classroom. By Dec 2015 I completed my HET off-road and on-highway apprenticeship with a 4 year average of 89%. Unfortunately, due to the markets’ downturn, I was laid off in Jan 2016. Duties Included: • Driving in and approaching equipment in a mine environment • Inspect, diagnose, repair and test heavy equipment • Complete and submit parts requests and detailed work orders • Utilize computer maintenance manuals and testing equipment • Used and maintained company supplied field service truck during shift work Show less

OPERATOR, Schlumberger – Well Services, (Grande Prairie, AB) • I spent three years on a fracturing team and gained another perspective regarding the teams safety culture, equipment, materials and supplies used in the oil and gas industry. I started as an operator, learning both function and purpose of several different pieces of equipment(Pumper Truck, N2 Pumper Truck, FracCat Data Center), and eventually started teaching the newer green hands on the crew. I became a valuable team member and was offered the opportunity of a “Supervisor in Training” position. Unfortunately, do to unforeseen family health reasons I declined the opportunity and returned to Kelowna. Show less
