Drew Nelson represents clients in commercial and civil matters, with a primary concentration on general counsel advising, appellate work, and civil litigation. He has represented clients in state and federal court, in the North Carolina Supreme Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Drew graduated, with honors, from the University of North Carolina's law school. He was a joint-degree student at UNC-Law, earning both a law degree and a Masters in Public Policy from Duke University. During law school, Drew served as an Executive Editor of the UNC Law Review. Prior to joining The Epstein Law Firm, Drew was a partner in a small NC firm focused on criminal and civil litigation and practiced with a large, national firm. He has represented NC businesses and hospitals in medical malpractice cases and commercial disputes. He has extensive experience working on high-profile cases, including the 2003 explosion at the West Pharmaceutical plant in Kinston, NC, and the Duke University hydraulic fluid-exposure accident in 2005. Drew also brings the perspective of an in-house attorney to his work at The Epstein Law Firm. He served as an in-house counsel for North Carolina State University prior to joining the firm and represented the university during a criminal investigation related to the 2009 firing of a prominent faculty member. In addition to his work as a practicing attorney, Drew has taught legal writing courses and classes focused on appellate advocacy. Drew Nelson was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. Outside of his professional work, Drew enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer Nelson, a congenital heart surgeon, and his daughters, Laine and Summer Nelson. He published his first novel, Original Intent, a political novel based on North Carolina history in 2012 Show less
