On behalf of the University Alliance DTA-Reps, we would like to thank Dr Danielle for participating in our Career Fair on 09/09/2021 as a speaker. It was a great experience to cooperate with her during the event and we highly appreciate the information, time, and advice that was provided to our cohort of DTA ESRs. Both we and the attendees experienced a great event with her help and we are confident to say that she helped us a lot in shaping or organising our potential future career plans. Her contribution is always valuable. Moreover, she is very enthusiastic and dedicated in her workshops and presentations.

I recently had an inspiring and revealing coaching session with Danielle. It clarified to me a number of professional decisions. I immediately felt relaxed and at ease with Danielle which meant we were able to identify outcomes at an early stage in our session.

This PhD was part of an extended studentship that involved both teaching and project work for Manchester University, see 'eTutor' position. The research enabled me to explore the effects of disadvantage upon young peoples transition into the employment market. The research was qualitative, used visual methods and data gathering took place over a two year period. I addressed the following research question: 'How are the career related choices of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds shaped during their transition towards the end of compulsory schooling?' Theoretically, I considered the structural implications of disadvantage through a Bourdieusian framework to consider the implications for 'field', 'habitus', 'cultural' and 'social capital'. Themes within the data drew my attention to the influence of cultural capital within social networks. I then considered the potential for agency from within this framework through the concept of 'reflexivity'. I continue to explore the practical applications of this research through my coaching, developing and applying theory and frameworks within my workshops and one to one coaching.
