10,000 Hours exists to help adults learn. We help individuals, teams and organisations realise their potential, in learning and training workshops, in team offsites, and at all-hands or conferences. We do this by challenging people with tailored, daring thinking in environments which provide the productive discomfort in which real practical learning happens. Engineered and supported by the experience and pattern recognition that comes with 10,000 hours of deliberate practice. In a nutshell: Daring Ideas in a Safe Pair of Hands.™ Founded in 2014, we are a team of seasoned experts in organisational learning, combining rigorous academic scholarship with context-sensitive practical application. We put the daring ideas into your language and your context so they work for you. 2013 was a momentous year for me - I left full time employment to set up 10,000 Hours with my co-founder Marcus Crow, I began applying to start my PhD that year, and also my daughter was born! Since then we have grown 10,000 Hours into a growing business. I have facilitated workshops and conferences on every continent except Antarctica, in more than 40 countries. I have worked with groups as small as 3 and as large as 2,000 people. I have worked with a broad range of industries including financial services, insurance, IT, telcos, software as a service (SAAS), primary production, agriculture, FMCG, manufacturing, professional services and consulting, law, engineering, marketing and PR, media (print, tv and digital), design and digital services, airlines and transport, and tertiary education. I have worked with federal, state and local government, as well as high profile government agencies. Within these organisations I have worked at every level from graduates to C-suite and Board, and although I tend to only work at very senior levels now, 10,000 Hours still works at every level of the organisation. No matter who you are or where you work, we can help you improve what you do.

Dolphins play in pods. Bees work in hives. Pod & Hive helps teams who work together play together which helps them learn and improve. We are a collection of facilitators, coders, visual designers, researchers and gamers, all driven to bring energy and engagement to organisational learning and development. Our games are – at heart – group behavioural simulations. This means they shine a light on how we behave in social units: groups, teams, divisions, organisations, networks. They provide an engaging sandbox to reflect on how we might currently behave, and/or to try out new behaviours together. At Pod&Hive my role is as lead game designer. I draw on my 20 years' experience in facilitating groups, my PhD in complex human dynamics, and my love of games and gaming to come up with the concepts and mechanics that sit at the heart of our games. I flesh these out into ugly but playable prototypes to test for playability. Then our fabulous team of coding wizards, design gurus and operational magicians bring the games to life. We teach and train facilitators from all over the world to be able to run our games and simulations in their workshops, adding fun and engagement to rigorous learning. Come play with us, see what we can do with you!

UTS prides itself on a high practitioner ratio in its instruction - it deliberately attracts lecturers and tutors who still work with in industry, and hence can translate academic concepts into everyday work context for easy application of learning. The EMBA program has been redesigned by program director Professor Mel Edwards to be based around reflective practice. To that end I run sessions with the EMBA cohort that teach them how complex group dynamics work, and encourage them to reflect on their own experience of - and contribution to - the groups and teams in which they find themselves at work. I also give other ad-hoc seminars and workshops in complex organisational and group dynamics and how they impact such things as team working, leadership, innovation and creativity, systems thinking and organisational change and transformation.

Beesness sits at the intersection of scholarship and practice. Focused on complexity in organisational leadership and innovation, we do research, produce content and apply this into organisational life to make people think and behave differently. I founded Beesness when I started my PhD in complex human dynamics, based on my passion for the complex dynamics of social insects: the business of bees, or beesness! Together we are interested in complex emergent patterns and distributed intelligence that drives organisational leadership and innovation.
