This novel approach allows a physician to spend quality time on physical examination, assess the psychosocial aspect of disease, and build a relationship with the patient. I founded a telemedicine platform in 2013 called Just Better System (www.jbsystem.co.uk) to bridge the gap between healthcare standards of developing and developed countries. The aim of this platform was to provide underprivileged patients with an up-to-date, evidence-based, and multidisciplinary medical second opinion, in order to improve standards of diagnosis and treatment. The aim of this platform was to provide underprivileged patients with an up-to-date, evidence-based, and multidisciplinary medical second opinion, in order to improve standards of diagnosis and treatment. This platform gave me the opportunity to look into the casues of medical mishaps such as medical errors, misdiagnosis, lack of evidence-based practice, delayed diagnosis of cancer, strained healthcare systems, over investigation, and overtreatment. Engagements with patients from both developing and developed countries, and with physicians from developed countries during the course of this project gave me a deep understanding of the problems. Every real-life scenario I came across provided ideas for potential strategies to mitigate or avoid them with solutions such as evidence-based medical approach, futuristic solution adoptions, multimodal diagnostic approach, the inclusion of real-world evidence, use of hybrid healthcare models, patient empowerment, and legislative changes for healthcare. I have documented my findings in the form of the book "Medical Malpractice - How to Keep Yourself Out of Trouble?" Due to a lack of patient understanding and factors related to the healthcare system or the physician, patients may end up paying exorbitant amounts of money, and suffering unnecessary further health issues. The book aims to expose these issues with real-life stories, laying bare unscrupulous and unregulated aspects of the medical system.
