I was lead for the international agriculture and climate change portfolio for the NZ Ministry for Primary Industries. This multifacted role involved engagement as NZ's representative in international climate change meetings, agriculture negotiations and fora that engaged debate on the reduction of greenhouse gases from agriculture.I also co-chaired the Agriculture Initiative for the Climate and Clean Air Coalition which has 100+ members from Government, industry, NGO's and global financial institutions. This involved raising the profile of agriculture as a solution to climate change, identifying opportunities to develop project ideas to deliver the strategy and work-plan and raising significant funds for implementation at scale.

I led a global project on direct and indirect GHG emissions from livestock. The project focused on the technical mitigation options available in developing regions and assesed the potential and feasibility of the mitigation options on farm with consideration for the constraints to adoption of mitigation packages. I worked with scientists, farmer organisations, policy experts to develop mitigation packages focusing on improved efficiency in developing regions that offer synergies between emission reduction, increased productivity, and other environmental objectives such as reduced land degradation. The project spanned 14 developing countries.
