      Queensland Division This was indeed a valuable role as it was further enhanced by having spent time as a flying doctor early in my medical career, therefore I understood from a service provision perspective, the issues of remote emergency care. The governance structures of the organisation at that time of my board role, were going through the difficult process of reducing membership of the board from well over 15 to 9. This enabled a far more effective governance process to be implemented. It was… Show more This was indeed a valuable role as it was further enhanced by having spent time as a flying doctor early in my medical career, therefore I understood from a service provision perspective, the issues of remote emergency care. The governance structures of the organisation at that time of my board role, were going through the difficult process of reducing membership of the board from well over 15 to 9. This enabled a far more effective governance process to be implemented. It was also a period when the first of the helicopter emergency businesses were starting to compete for state government contracts, so RFDS needed to strategically address this disruption. Show less
