I am conducting methodological work on indicators and monitoring to support data gathering, data collation and analysis in support of States' commitments on water related goals such as Sustainable Development Goal 6, regional goals such as the AMCOW reporting formats on water, and national water goals. The geographical focus of the programme is on the African continent, and presently GIWEH is working together with the governments of Tunisia and Kenya in support of water resources monitoring. On the one hand this involves legal and policy analysis: reviewing existing commitments and goals, and on the other hand it involves aligning existing data gathering and analysis systems to these needs and building capacity to respond to these targets. Webster University Geneva has initiated a new course on water and food security. This is a timely addition to the courses on offer and it has been fun to develop the curriculum with Dr Fiorella Picchioni from SOAS London and get off to a good start with the students.
