    • Unit Coordinator/Lecturer/Curriculum Developer Introduction to Business Analytics
      • Jul 2017 - Present

In my role as Lecturer at ECU I recently developed the curriculum for an Introduction to Business Analytics (SBL1400) which is a new core unit for the Bachelor of Commerce. As part of the curriculum development process I undertook extensive research into the current Business Analytics environment from both an educational and business perspective. This has given me an in depth understanding of the way in which data analytics are presently being taught at a university level, and how data analytics are utilised in different areas of business to provide evidence-based insights for decision-making. Incorporating a technology enhanced learning approach as part of the curriculum development process I created lecture material for twelve online learning modules, material for twelve interactive seminars, an Excel focused learning plan for twelve online and offline tutorials and a comprehensive facilitation guide.

    • Social and Not for Profit Marketing Unit coordinator/Lecturer
      • Jul 2016 - Present

In my role as Unit Coordinator for Social and Not for Profit Marketing I successfully restructured the unit to create an alignment with a charitable organisation and a unique learning experience for students. This new approach to the facilitation of the unit enhanced learning and teaching practices at ECU by engaging students in a practical and collaborative project. The project not only was a response to current issues as students raised a substantial amount of money and awareness to the plight of the homeless in Australia (Perth), but also gave students the opportunity to build networks with industry professionals in the banking, marketing and the not-for-profit marketing sectors. I was a recipient of the Vice-Chancellor’s Learning and Teaching Award for Engagement in Learning and Teaching 2017 for my work on this project.

I spent a very interesting and enjoyable year as a SOAR Ambassador at ECU. During my employment I met and made friends with a number of students from other faculties, and was able to offer assistance and advice on issues of both a personal and professional nature. This was a position I felt privileged to hold and has given me a real insight into the issues that research students face daily. The SOAR centre is a support service that the graduate research school offer to students at ECU and is absolutely critical in bridging the gap between students feeling isolated in their studies or feeling they are part of a community.
