I conducted extensive characterization of microorganisms, specifically environmental/anaerobic/methanogenic, to optimize anaerobic digestion of organic biomass for biomethane production. This involved analyzing suitable biomass for ash content, total solid, volatile solid, COD, BOD, C:N ratio, and element (micro/macro) analysis through AAS characterization, resulting in enhanced biomethane yield.I also conducted lab and pilot-scale technology studies of anaerobic reactors and performed BMP characterization. Additionally, I was responsible for project report writing, article preparation, and communication, as well as managing biogas plants, including two 50 m3 and five 0.25 m3 plants.       As a Senior Research Fellow at the Defence Research Laboratory (DRDO) in Tezpur, Assam, my primary focus was on the study and set up of experimental protocols in cellulase gene characterization. I successfully published 112 bacterial sequences (16s rRNA) gut to NCBI databank, with 28 of them being cellulolytic isolates from insect gut. I carried out qualitative and quantitative estimation of cellulase enzyme to characterize substrate-specific degradation.Additionally, I conducted PCR-based molecular characterization of cellulase genes of potential cellulolytic isolates. I also contributed to the development of efficient bacterial consortia and their enzymatic profiling to study their solid waste degradation efficiency.Furthermore, I played a key role in the characterization of a lytic bacteriophage from wastewater and its application in pathogen reduction. I was also responsible for project report writing, article preparation, communications, and other project-related tasks.Throughout my work at DRDO, I maintained a high level of adherence to good laboratory practices (GLP) and worked collaboratively with a large team of researchers.
