She is the principal investigator for the project proposal “Interactive Teaching Aids for Autistic Children - ITAAC ” which is funded by Department of Science & Technology under TIDE programme. ITAAC e-Kit consists of attractive animated teaching methods which help the autistic children to understand and learn more effectively. A structured curriculum enabling a wide spectrum of disability level with 18 domain skill sets each containing 20 activities (skills) is devised and implemented with multimedia technologies viz. animation and video with audio synchronization to attract autistic children. All 18 domains are categorized under 6 skill sets namely motor skills, self-help, language development Social Interaction, academics and vocational skills from which trainer can choose to train their children with respect to their functional capabilities.Currently she is working on developing an "e-Kit to enhance livelihood skills for person with mild and moderate Intellectual Disability". This e-kit for imparting livelihood skills to persons with mild and moderate Intellectual Disability(ID) is a software component that consists of set of videos/3D animations interfaced along with Augmented Reality technology. A curriculum book have been designed with pictures of all the livelihood skills, when we place a mobile phone or tablet over the picture, the 3D Animations/Videos will be played in the mobile. This e-Kit is a flexible curriculum as the activities and the tasks in the vocational curriculum are not only to be taught in the class room but also outside the classroom, & in the community places and on comfortable timings. The activities which are to be taught outside the class room can be taken up by the teacher, parents, siblings and the employers. The school based digital curriculum helps the students towards independent living and employability which are the ultimate aims of special education. Show less
