Justices of the Peace exercise only those powers given to them by statute. Section 4 of the Justices of the Peace Act 1957 states that the functions and powers of Justices shall be: a) To take oaths and declarations under the provisions of the Oaths and Declarations Act 1957 or any other enactment. b) To carry out such functions and exercise such powers as are conferred on Justices by the Summary Proceedings Act 1957 or by any other enactment. The functions of boards are set out in Section 6M of the Conservation Act 1987 and in the National Parks and Reserves Acts. The board's focus is on planning and strategic direction for public conservation land. The Board is not involved in the day-to-day operational details of the work, nor is it involved in general environmental advocacy. Rangiora High School is a Decile 8 coeducational state secondary school with a roll of 1800. The school has a 136 year history of excellence in education. Peggy Burrows was appointed Principal at Rangiora High School in 2003. Rangiora High School is the 2nd largest state secondary school in the South Island of New Zealand with a roll of 1800 students from Year 9 - 13. Since assuming her leadership role Peggy has concentrated on establishing a professional learning community focussed on continuous school-wide improvement to raise student achievement through improved pedagogy/best practice, building leadership capacity and establishing strong student voice. Peggy is currently enrolled as a part time student at the University of Canterbury and these themes underpin her PhD research study which centres on an autoethnographic exploration of her leadership practice at Rangiora High School from a bi-cultural perspective. Peggy has been married to Donald Burrows for 35 years and together they have two daughters, both of whom are teachers. Show less

Nature of Tribunal From 1991 - 2001 the Tribunal was a specialist body that had the role of deciding appeals and matters by making findings of fact, applying the relevant law, and making a determination.
