I have known and worked with Pat for almost 20 years going back to Lotus Development days. Pat is a true professional in every sense of the word, a super mentor and great friend. Pat demonstrates an extraordinary work ethic and balances a strong in-depth knowledge of technology, customer challenges and academic engagement with ease. Pat's strength is his vision to take a problem and turn it into an opportunity. An outstanding individual with a natural flare for surmounting obstacles, providing out of the box solutions and who comes highly recommended.

Abigail Ruth Freeman

Pat has worked enthusiastically to engage with SFI funded research groups, particularly in supporting the development of spin-out companies and in linking to Horizon 2020 projects. IBM are active partners in several SFI-funded research programmes and Pat has been instrumental in driving these engagements.

Web site design, development, testing and hosting for Hotels, B&Bs, etc This was a part time (weekends) activity with my Wife that we both undertook to develop our customer facing skills. The principal technical contribution I made was designing a comprehensive web site structure and associated business logic which leveraged automation to apply a unique site-wide style and façade for each customer that we worked with, reducing web site design time by 90% yet still arriving at a place where each web site delivered looks substantially different in concept, style and interface. Sample of some web sites developed from site creation automation can be seen here : http://homepage.eircom.net/~ardeevindesigns/index.html Show less

I have always had tremendous time and respect for Mr. Patrick Herlihy (MD) who was very supportive and kind to me during my student years, and who provided part time employment for the full duration of my under-graduate degree. This allowed me to work Friday evening and all weekends, as well as full weeks during Christmas and Summer Holidays. In turn, this allowed me to fund all of my college expenses and also allowed me to afford to visit my girlfriend in Killarney regularly(whom I later married), in difficult/challenging financial team back then for any student. Of all of the employments I have had over the many years, this was certainly one that I have reflected on the most, largely because it helped in so many aspects of my younger days, highly influenced the path to the childhood sweetheart that I subsequently married and, consequently, Mr. Herlihy was that one and only one employer whose support and help created the positive roots and ripples which still prevail and impact to the present day. My role was as a general operative, across many departments and functions for Mr. Herlihy's broad business interests in Co. Cork. I was fortunate to see and learn prudent business and operational management from this good gents from the age of 16. Show less
