Leading a multidisciplinary team combining agriculture and bioinformatics specialists. Using a combination of breeding techniques, next-generation-sequencing methods and cutting edge bioinformatic proprietary pipeline, I have steered the identification of loci and genes for agronomic important traits (i.e. disease resistances, yield enhancement, heterosis) in tomato, rice and maize. The loci and genes that were identified by my team are ready for commercialization by seeds companies. Leading a multidisciplinary team combining agriculture and bioinformatics specialists. Pre-breeding and development of DNA markers for breeding of dehydrating tomatoes (raisin-tomatoes/tomaisins). The gene corresponding to the dehydration trait, originated in wild tomato species, was identified and characterized in our laboratory and I have introduced the unique trait into elite tomato germplasm by backcrossing and marker-assisted-breeding. Elite raisin tomato hybrids have reached commercialization, seeds are available and tomatoes are cultivated by several growers in Israel and Europe. (http://tomaisin.net/index.html) Show less
